Here’s Exactly How To Dress “Quiet Luxury” Even If You Don’t Have Shiv’s Trust Fund
by The Candidly Team
If you’re anything like us and have had the brilliant intro music to Succession playing in your head ad nauseam or you can’t sit down at the head of your dining table without seeing the iconic shot of Logan Roy from behind at a board meeting, then this article is for you.
And if you have zero clue what the f—- we’re talking about, than this article is also for you.
The reason is we’re not actually here today to talk about the deep disfunction of the Roy family, though if you want to talk about it, we are 1000% game! Rather, we are here to focus on what they’re wearing. Well, what one of them is wearing. Shiv…naturally.
Shiv’s wardrobe can read a little business-luxury, but there’s no denying how glorious each expertly selected piece looks on her. And so, we decided to go there and find the “quiet luxury” pieces that make sense in our own non-private-jet-setting lives.
While the show itself makes living “luxury” look like a clusterfuck of actually unhinged humans desperately clinging to strands of power, dressing “luxury” is something different. Something far more appealing. Not to mention more attainable.
Because it isn’t actually about $3000 suits and $10,000 handbags. And it isn’t all corporate attire. In fact, the aesthetic of “quiet luxury” is really a simple matter of following a few sneaky little rules that happen to make clothes look yes, more expensive, but also, extra good.
And here’s what they are:
Tailored fit: Everything you wear should curve, fall, and frame your body just so.
Clean lines: No bulky extra layers or fussy frills.
Quality materials: Everything should look rich and well-made. No extra shine, pilling knits, or plasticky leathers.
Neutral palette: Your new best friends are black, beige, white, cream, black, gray, maaaaybe a deep blue, and black.
Solids, solids, solids: Nix any busy prints or loud labels. If you want variety, put one color solid over another. Then, you can occasionally pepper in a few, carefully selected “moments” of bolder colors and prints (as you’ll soon see in some of Shiv’s dress selections).
The “look” of comfort: You never see a Waystar Royco heir tugging at their blazer sleeve or adjusting their perfect-fitting pencil skirt. Luxury means looking and feeling deeply comfortable, which is one rule we especially get behind.
So with that whole spiel behind us, let’s get to the clothes.
THE SILK BLOUSE
Favorite Daughter The Date Blouse Bodysuit
We could wear this with a gloriously high-waisted pair of black pants and replicate Shiv’s exact business-sultry look from above. Or we could wear it with our best jeans, and have a foolproof going-out outfit. And since’s it’s a bodysuit, we never have to fuss over getting that perfect tuck.

Price: $198
Everlane The Clean Silk Relaxed Shirt
This is one of our favorite silky blouses, and in fact one of our 5 favorite pieces from Everlane right now. It’s light, relaxed, and easy to tuck. You can even see one of us modeling it as part of a very Shiv-esque look here.
Price: $150
THE DREAMIEST, DRAPIEST WIDE-LEG PANT COLLECTION
The Avery Elastic-Back Trousers by Maeve
Before we ever had feelings for the sea of flowy high-waist pants featured on Succession, we were talking about how perfect this style looks on curves. And these pants are unequivocally the best of all of them. Flawless quality that feels like loungewear while looking like Katharine Hepburn (who happens to be one of the Old Hollywood influences on the show’s costume designer). Spacious yet tapered. And the size range is perfection.
Price: $148
J.Crew Sydney wide-leg pant in bi-stretch cotton blend
Don’t let the Cousin Greg height of the model fool you, on an average-height human, these pants fall to our feet. The fabric looks way more expensive than it is, but it has a kind of stretchiness that’s so flattering and comfy, we feel no desire to strip them off and change into sweats the minute we get home.
Price: $25 - $65
The CREAMY Neutral PIECES
Doën Nessa Tee
We’re not sure precisely what it is about a palette of whites, tans, and rich creams that gives off a look of understated chicness, but we are very much on board. Especially when it comes to this pointelle turtleneck which we’ll be wearing with those high-waisted trousers we keep babbling on about.
Price: $128
THE IMPECCABLY TAILORED BLAZER
Favorite Daughter
The Favorite Blazer
A blazer can be wildly boring. Or it can be the single piece of clothing that gives you the best silhouette of your life. The key, of course, is tailoring. But as real people who can’t afford to have every item of clothing we own personally fitted to us, we’re very grateful for items like this blazer, which is truly the single most nipping, non-bulky, non-stiff blazer of our dreams. Because of that, we’re willing to spend a bit more (not Roy family more) but more. We love it in tan, but buy it in black and you will need no other black blazer for the rest of time.

Price: $328
J.Crew Madelyn blazer in four-season stretch
This clean-lined, slim-fit blazer feels like the piece of outerwear we’re always searching for to “dress up” a casj look or to honestly wear over an evening dress. The silhouette is so flattering and it has that incredible stretch J.Crew is famous for. Most days, we throw it on over a cami to instantly look refined.
Price: $179.50
THE LOVELY DRESSES
THE LIGHT AS AIR TURTLENECK
Everlane The Pima Micro-Rib Turtleneck
We understand that there’s a quiet power to a turtleneck, a timelessness, not to mention it creates some fairly gorgeous lines. But for any of that to be true, it needs to be light and easy to wear, feathery soft and perfectly fitted. We’re pretty sure if Shiv herself were to try on this turtleneck, she’d never spend a penny more on any other.
Price: $50
THE LUXE SWEATER LOuNGe Set
Quince Mongolian Cashmere Open Cardigan Sweater
If you’re going to quietly plot the takeover of a media empire from your own penthouse apartment, you’re going to be doing so in the softest loungewear known to man. This divine, oversized sweater is pure cocooning cashmere. But for a price that’s pretty much unheard of.
Price: $100
THE TIMELESS EVENING GOWN
Lovers and Friends Chapman Gown
We think foolproof is a good word to describe this gown. It’s striking. It fits like magic. And like any “quiet luxury” occasion dress, we’ll never look back at pictures and say, “Ugh, that dress was so (insert disappointing decade).” Because, it will never not be breathtaking.
Price: $155
PrettyGarden Women's Summer Satin Dress
There’s something so easy about a dress where the neckline is the star. It’s tailored enough to give us those clean lines we talked about but spacious enough to not make us feel like we need 7 sets of shapewear to feel remotely unselfconscious. The green is clearly a winner, but it comes in every color you could possibly desire. Oh, and it’s $50.
Price: $38
THE ACCESSORIES
Mejuri Pavé Diamond Huggie Hoops
We clearly see that diamonds are a thing on Succession. And while we definitely don’t want to deck ourselves in fluorescent fakes that turn our skin green, we’re also in no position to be spending a year’s salary on a pair of earrings. Yet, by some magic, Mejuri is making real luxury jewelry for prices we can fathom. Like these diamond hoops which are absolute perfection.
Price: $278
Quince Italian Leather Medium Convertible Satchel
A smart satchel that isn’t “ludicrously capacious” is as timeless as it is chic. And this entirely Italian leather version costs about 10x less than its pay-for-the-label, designer counterparts.
Price: $160
