And recently, while our husbands shopped for their favorite shirts, we plucked a few things on to try at nothing other than…
Faherty.
Have you heard of it? It’s a surfy brand started by the Faherty family who still own it to this day. Which is nice. They’re thoughtful about social and environmental issues, and shopping this brand feels a little less corporate and soulless than most.
If you were into Ralph Lauren as a teen, and you have maybe a little bit of a beachy wanderlust, you’ll be into Faherty clothes.
They fit great, the materials are beautiful, everything is well-made, they wash beautifully, and they seem to go with everything else you own.

1. The Floaty Top That Works With Every Type Of Bottom
This easy, floating top feels like the kind of piece that’s already been in your closet for 10 years. The kind of top you always reach for because it just works with everything. This arm length is the best arm length if you feel like t-shirts never hang right on you. Throw it on with jeans, or your favorite wide-leg pants, and poof, it’s not just clothes, it’s an outfit.

6. The might as well be called “the perfect august dress”
Smocking is magic. It’s important everyone is aware of this. That’s why 87% of the pieces on this very list have smocking. But this dress is so perfectly smocked, a bra is not required. Yes, even if you’re very busty. The overall look is so throw-it-on-and-you’re-done which is all we want in the dog days of summer. Fine, fling on a jean jacket at night if it gets chilly where you are. Oh, and these shoes.

We are HUGE FANS of the denim shirt. There is sort of nothing it can’t do. It can be your overshirt, your jaunty little flourish with it tied around the waist, and yet it whispers classic in this very chic but underdone way. We’re always on the hunt for an amazing one. Lovely for summer, yes. But begging to be paired with tights and brown riding boots. And another supremely comfortable smocked waist that is somehow also wildly flattering!

9. The softer more wearable Button-down for our curvy and/or earthy friends
If you love the look of simple, white button down shirts, but can never seem to make them work for you, can we interest you in this perfectly made peasant blouse? Roomy in the arm, stomach, and boob, but cut so well, everything looks sleek. Here it is in gingham, because they were sold out of white (no surprise) and it’s also perfection.

Oh, look. It’s the boxy, loose-fit, easy breezy t-shirt we dream about. Are you scared of a horizontal stripe? Of course you are. You had a mother didn’t you? But guess what? They’re actually flattering. She was wrong. Don’t be afraid. Lean in.

Apple shapes, behold! Bloated babes, ah ha! Zero cinching anywhere, and yet, the cut of this cute canvas dress is still beyond flattering. Throw this on with a cute pair of flips, and that’s your entire outfit, sorted. And for some strange reason, that shade of army green looks excellent on everyone.

It’s a towel? That’s also a dress? YES. And it’s the most practical-yet-cute “cover up” adjacent piece of clothing we’ve seen in a long time.
